Another one of Upper Deck Entertainment’s
Vs. System Pro Circuit stops has come and gone, and we have a new champion! Pro Circuit Los Angeles 2005 highlighted both the Golden Age and Booster Draft formats in the ultimate test of skill for any
Vs. System player. Karl Horn, a gaming enthusiast and devoted father from
Cincinnati, Ohio, took the tournament by storm. After a great deal of testing, Karl chose to pin his hopes on New School. He propelled his deck of choice to an 8-2 record in the first day of the tournament, posted an excellent performance in the Draft, and then breezed through to the finals. He came back from an 0-2 deficit in the final five-game match to clinch the title and the first prize of $40,000! Karl wasn’t the only one who made out like a bandit, though—more than a quarter of the 288 professional players in attendance walked away with a share of the $256,250 purse.
